After launching and leading partnerships for art therapy and trauma healing for Ukrainian refugees in Germany in March 2022, our Founder sensed a call in November that year: “Make straight the way.” She understood the humanitarian focus would need to shift back inside Ukraine. More specifically, the strategy, teams and funds should be in place for when the war ended to help as many children as possible immediately.
But the war didn’t end…
By March 2023, with few organizations still on the ground inside, it became crystal clear: The suffering was neither stopping nor waiting until we were ready. The children needed support now.
Fully-funded and with an expert trio of three American and Ukrainian organizations, the vision to bring healing to children in Ukraine expanded. Over the next twelve months, 36 children’s frontline workers attended multi-day training and were supported to operate 39 trauma healing groups in 11 regions. Success under the most horrific conditions with groups help in bomb shelters, under sirens and still… We are just getting started!
